It’s still there, as is now a crane.
Clearly it was never meant to be my Everest, or if it was, there will never be anything again, so i missed it, and that saddens me.

I guess my search starts again.
I saw an abandoned building with a broken door the other day. It is my Everest now, and i’m pretty sure that it has a giant, beating heart inside, that maybe i have to kill, or at least draw on. You wanna go?

Everyone have a good one?

Not updated on here for a while, the adapter for my Macbook FINALLY bit the big one and overheated/melted, and so i was sans-internet for the majority of the Holidays. Not to mention that my digicam was backed up more than i was from Christmas food!
(Go look at the digital-bukkake of my Flickr stream!)

Anyway, back now, and also back to classes on Monday, so plenty of photos and pictures of *actual work*, that’s right. I’ve been working on a series around “the blues”, not the music genre, the mood, sort’ve..
You’ll see, i think i’ve found a bit of niche imagery that could be real serious or a lot of fun. Hopefully both?
Stay tuned!

Assessment over.

Work has reached a pinnacle for the year.

Nothing but relaxation for a month.

So what happened to the calm, stress free state of mind that i was promised!? Why do i wake up feeling like i’m waiting to jump from a plane? I just want what the regular people have!

I’m off to sketch people and play Guitar Hero.
Then i’m gonna watch Californication and wish that i had the completely zen lifestyle of a failing writer, living with a rock producer who’s just overdosed on cocain. (If you watched the show, you’d not be so surprised that it is actually pretty zen!)

I just don’t want to care anymore.
But i do.

That’s right, i feel desaturated, foggy and badly scanned.
You know what i mean?

Had my first anxiety attack in well over 6 months today, not an earth shaker, but bad enough that i just packed up all my stuff and walked home in the rain. Can usually meditate over this kinda thing and shrug it off, but i was due to do a seminar an hour later, so i reckon that was the straw that broke the camels back. It’s been a pressure cooker of a month!

Enough of all that though, it’s not fun reading now is it, my grievances with life and the universe! Besides these odd bouts of anxiety and bad days, this first term of Uni is over in about 10 days, and it’s generally been a much more relaxed year than last. Not that i didn’t have fun last year, but being able to go HOME instead of a flat surrounded by 400 other people certainly takes the edge off those bad days.
Lets hope that everyone’s still as boss and fun by the end of the 3 years ahead of me, huh! So far so good.

I’ll be going round snapping everyone’s art space’s when they’re done working this week, and uploading them to the ol’ Flickr photostream if they so choose, so there’ll be a bunch of interesting stuff to look at this weekend with any luck. It’s so much fun getting to work around other people operating within a space that’s totally their own ‘zone’.

Anyway, this was mostly a ramble because i’d bailed home early and needed to kill some time between bits of Hollyoaks (comfort TV!) so i’ll end it here. Gonna start watching The Sopranos this week, in anticipation of the TV drought when Heroes/Betty/Smallville/Dexter etc. finish for the holidays. Also maybe i’ll re-watch LOST season 3/4 to build up ready for Season 5 in January. OH MY SMOKEMONSTER, i can hardly contain my excitement.

Namaste.

Oh man, i am so very into foggy days.

Got up this morning and decided that if i was going to bottle out of camping in the woods (far too cold!) that i’d at least go and be productive somewhat. That decided, i gathered up my SLR, my digital camera, my iPod and my wallet, and started roaming.

Didn’t take long to decide on heading to Botanic Gardens (local park) and find some tree/fog imagery. Love that stuff, like Jack the Ripper would have been out on days like this.

Aaaaand of course, there being a graveyard right near there i got all Silent Hill and snapped a few digitals there. I would have emptied 5 or 6 35mm snaps there too, had i not realised that i’d loaded the film all wrong, and so it wasn’t winding on. 25 frames wasted and i’d only been out 20minutes, typical.

Luckily i had a spare roll of B+W, and so i’ve uploaded a bunch of desaturated digital snaps, and will get my Xp100 or whatever film processed and upload the rest monday. Those were my better shots, these digitals were just for fun mostly, semi-disposable images and all that.

Still wish i’d had the mental capacity to bear camping tonight, i bet those guys are having a blast, getting the good kind of scared and toasty by a campfire. Awwwww, gutted.

Beginning of the End.

And so i’ve survived this far, my BA work is getting assessed/reviewed/marked/whoknowswhat on December 12th. Yet despite me looking around when i’m in the art spaces, and seeing that there’s maybe 20% of us all who have actually done any work, it’s our small percentage that are the only people to be concerned about the looming date.

In all reality, we could probably sit back now and just wait to hand in what we’ve already composed, along with our sketchbooks, or truthfully, scraps of note paper with ideas scrawled on. We could just leave it all in a big safe, and sit watching the others slothing around the place as if it’s no big deal. By the beard of Zeus, i despise those people.

Alas, i’m lucky enough to have my own space, away from those with any drive to do/be more. Sadly it’s in that space that i seem to start turning inward and pointing a whole bunch of over-thought at my fragile little brain. With only 2 weeks until this project is over, it couldn’t have come at a worse time, luckily i’ve planned an exact schedule so i didn’t flounder and make a mess, but it doesn’t stop me from grinding to an agonising halt as soon as i break away from my work.

This is long and boring, but i find that if i don’t vent somehow, all the time i have that’s meant to be ‘free time’ is just filled with despair and unenjoyable bouts of clouded thought. *SIGH*

If you couldn’t be bothered reading all that, that’s ok. I ramble these things so that i can spring clean my brain, and get to the fun stuff.

Started making more time for reading recently, it seems to keep me occupied both mentally and physically which is great, not to mention i buy enough bloody books that just sit on shelves!! My reading list is likely 10+ books, steadily growing from last summer. Go figure.

This week though, it’s WORLD WAR Z getting polished off if all goes to plan, and next week i’m gonna marathon THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS, then settle down to SLAUGHTERHOUSE 5. After that who knows, my Amazon wishlist is swelling with fresh words though.

Ramble over.
Go look at the FLICKR as always, also, go read about Time Travel / The 4th Dimension, because that’s what my next project is gonna be based on. Some sort of crazy, Sci-Fi like event in time and space.
*shrug*

This week, (despite the continued efforts of others) has not been so bad!

I got quite a bit of work completed, television was highly enjoyable, and i’ve upped my Guitar Hero skills to Expert guitar, and a solid medium at drums. Good stuff!

Handful of new images on my Flickr, from around my Uni space / home studio, mostly just progression shots of my installation piece being thrown together.

Of some note, is my renewed love of scavenging, and if you take a moment to look at my pictures, you’ll notice an ever increasing amount of scrap wood. I’m not sure what it is about seeing a stray pile of junk wood and needing to grab half of it, but it’s certainly a small lift to my days when i come across a piece that’s all natural.
None of this plastic covered/treated/chip board crap, just solid wood with grooves and impurities and the grain. Yum!

I’m still 2 weeks away from getting Uni reviewed for this module, but already i’m looking forward to the next stretch of work that’ll need doing. Also, i’m pretty sure it’s gonna be heavily influenced by general thoughts on Time Travel, and 4 Dimensionalism. Very exciting time to be me!
